In the world in which we live, and, in fact, those things in which we encourage our children to be involved or to pursue as a career, great importance is placed on the imperative of choosing a career – a vocation – that ensures financial stability – for the present and for future retirement. While I hesitate to use catch phrases, the idea of “freedom 55” has been a concept that is widely accepted as the means by which success is measured. Why do we celebrate those things that are attached to the perception of its future monetary value? Is success that which is measured by income earned? Is this the right approach? Let’s start a discussion on the role that Art plays in the development of the person … and our communities.
